Saphire Event Group Wedding at The Lakehouse | Robert & Ashley

Ashley and Rob’s Saphire Event Group wedding at The Lakehouse was incredibly elevated and chic! They planned a formal celebration with family and friends at the newly renovated Lakehouse in Halifax, MA. I have photographed some of the major moments in their love story including their proposal and engagement photos, so I was incredibly honored to also capture their wedding day!

The Lakehouse

The Lakehouse is one of five venues owned by the Saphire Event Group. Recently renovated in June 2024, Rob and Ashley’s wedding was one of the first to be held here, and the venue did not disappoint. It features modern, clean spaces with picturesque settings and excellent lighting, thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows. This waterfront venue offers an outdoor ceremony area, an indoor/outdoor space for cocktail hour, and a spacious ballroom. Located just south of Boston, it’s a luxurious alternative to Newport and Cape Cod venues.

Getting Ready & First Looks

Rob and Ashley began their day getting ready separately with their wedding parties at the nearby Haarbortown Suites. Afterward, they arrived at the venue to add their final touches and prepare for the first looks. Ashley wore her dream dress from Kyha Studios NYC and it was stunning and fit her like a glove. Rob and his men all wore tuxes from The Black Tux which brought such a classy vibe to the whole day. You really can’t go wrong with a tux!!

Ashley had first looks with both her dad and Rob in the beautiful gardens. Her dad became emotional as he reflected on how quickly time had passed since she was a little girl. During her first look with Rob, they shared private vows, while their excited wedding party watched through the windows. Though Ashley and Rob are a fairly private couple, their love was undeniable during this moment. Their excitement was evident during the portraits we captured around the venue afterward!!

Their Love Story

Rob and Ashley met at the University of New Hampshire, where they quickly became best friends and fell in love soon after. After graduation, they spent two years living in the North End, where they brought home their sweet French Bulldog, Miss Ellie Bean. In 2021, they bought a condo in South Boston. Shortly after, Rob proposed on the North End waterfront. It's no surprise that Boston is such a special place to them!

Waterfront Outdoor Ceremony near Boston

It was a VERY humid and hot day and it rained in the morning... but it stopped raining just in time for their outdoor ceremony on the lawn overlooking the lake. Then, as Ashley walked down the aisle, the sun came out!! It was literally something out of a storybook. The ceremony florals by Danielle of Floral Fixation were so beautiful, especially the all-white floral arch. It looked stunning against the lake!

Rob has a loud and loving family and so whenever he and his groomsmen walked down the aisle each person got a celebration as if they were the star of the show. It was really sweet!

Rob’s cousin officiated their ceremony which made it really personal to them and helped to ease their nerves. Flanked by their wedding parties and their families in the front row, it was a beautiful celebration of two families becoming one.

The cocktail hour area is very inviting with lots of cute cozy places to sit both indoors and outdoors! The reception area is partitioned off which is great so no one sees the decor in there until it's time for the reception. The entire wall of windows on one side of the reception area lets in great light for the head table. Read more about selecting a photogenic wedding venue!

Their introduction was LIT, their friends nailed the speeches, and the first dances were beautiful, as were their parent dances. Once it came time for the party, their dance floor was wild! My coverage ended later than I am normally scheduled for and so I got some epic party photos like with the guys taking off their shirts when everyone let loose. I also played around with a "late-night flat lay" which is something I normally wouldn't have time for but is trendy right now! Usually, coverage ends earlier in the night but they prioritized party photos and it was so much fun!
