Laura and Joe’s wedding at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy, MA was relaxed and fun! This adorable couple ensured their day was family-focused and centered around their love story. I have seen Laura and Joe a few times since I photographed two other weddings in their friend group, so I was so excited it was finally their turn! Granite Links was the perfect venue for their big day with incredible views of the Boston skyline and gorgeous grounds for an outdoor ceremony and tented reception.
I LOVED the blue color palette that Laura selected! Each bridesmaid had a different variation of the blue floral pattern that looked incredible on everyone. The blue was woven throughout the day in all of the details and decor and the classic white bouquets tied everything together.
Boston Wedding Photographer
Most wedding days I come for getting ready photos through roughly the first hour of dancing. However, for Laura and Joe’s wedding we mixed it up a bit! In this instance, L+J really wanted photographs of their hype dance floor and sparkler exit and not too many of the getting ready process. I love when couples personalize their timelines for things that they truly prioritize.
Joe and the groomsmen looked amazing in tuxes with a single white rose as a boutonniere. Laura looked super chic with a tight low bun and a beautiful strapless dress with floral lace pattern. For their first look We headed out to the golf course for the with Boston skyline views in the background!
When Joe turned around to see Laura, he had the biggest smile on his face! It was one of my favorite moments of the day and I’m obsessed with the photos. Learn more about doing a first look on your wedding day!
Granite Links Wedding
Laura and Joe's wedding ceremony took place out on the golf course at sunset. Off to one side was an epic view of Boston and to the other was beautiful rolling hills for a perfect backdrop. While L+J’s ceremony was out on the course, there was another wedding going on on the other side of the venue but you’d never know it. The coordinators do such an excellent job of making sure couples never see each other to feel like you’re the only wedding in the world! Truly, Granite Links really has so much to offer and is a great place to tie the knot!
Laura and Joe have lost their fathers too soon, but with family as a focus for their wedding, the sentiments shared throughout the ceremony and reception ensured their memory was very much present throughout the day. They each had a prominent photo on the memory table and were mentioned often throughout the vows and speeches. Laura’s brother walked her down the aisle in her father’s absence and had the most beautiful welcome speech in his honor. I can’t imagine the pain of losing a parent so early but it was so touching to see and hear how each of their fathers played such an integral role in shaping them to who they are today. Both Laura and Joe’s mothers bonded together to be a forcefield of love to only spread joy rather than loss.
Wedding Reception in the Granite Links Pavilion Tent
After the ceremony, guests headed to the patio for cocktail hour! The most insanneeee pink sky exploded during the cocktail hour that everyone actually left the patio to go to the green and see it! We got some spontaneous sunset photos that are both silhouetted and lit with flash to provide L+J with one of a kind wedding photos.
The reception space was decorated with a beautiful chinoiserie blue pattern including the tablecloths, the centerpieces, and even the signature drink and cocktail napkins! There was a neon sign with their last name complete with a sparkler table with personalized matches. Midway through the reception, Laura changed into the same floral pattern to match her bridesmaids (and the tablecloths ha)!
The mother-daughter first dance was the perfect balance of light-hearted, yet emotional for everyone. They really committed to making the reception fun and memorable for everyone so we got tons of photos of everyone out on the dance floor. We ended the night with a sparkler exit to facilitate everyone’s migration to the after-party. When it was all said and done, Laura looked over and said "We did it, Joe!" which I just thought was so cute and the perfect way to end their wedding.
