Spoiler alert; SHE SAID YES!
Derek contacted me back in May letting me know he and his girlfriend Becky would be traveling to Boston from Philly for their annual birthday trip. Although this wouldn't be just any ordinary trip because he was planning to propose! Although he had never been to Boston before he was already set on the location : Fan Pier Park. I can't say I blame him - it's one of the most beautiful views of downtown Boston! Plus, there are tons of restaurants in Seaport right off the Harborwalk that are nice and perfect for a couple who just got engaged. A perfect proposal location in Boston if I do say so myself.

As the big day approached we chatted a few times to help him on where along the Harborwalk he should propose, along with how to position himself so that I'd be able to see Becky's face and reaction. Pro tip: I always coach the person who is doing the proposing to try to situate themselves so that the back of their left shoulder is facing me (not their whole back). That way I can see the scene clearly; in this case Derek down on one knee with the ring box, but also more of Becky's face and her reaction. But of course, in the moment this may be hard to remember as nerves are running wild!! So always do what feels best for you, and I'll make adjustments to capture the scene.

Derek went all out for their proposal. Aside from traveling to Boston themselves, he also had both of their families fly out to surprise Becky. On the day of their proposal, I picked up champagne (one to spray, one to drink) and flowers (Rococo Floral is the best in Boston!) on his behalf, and met the families a bit beforehand to choose a spot where they'd be hidden but still have a clear view. Derek shared his location with me on his iPhone so I could follow their trajectory and know when they arrived. They showed up exactly on time and walked a bit of ways down the Harborwalk before dropping to a knee.
After she said yes and shared a moment, their families burst out from behind the bushes to congratulate them. After all the hugs and tears we started their mini engagement session at fan pier park and took photos of their fam to commemorate the evening before they headed to dinner at Empire. And one of the best parts (which actually made Becky burst into tears again) is that Derek upgraded his proposal package to get same-day edits so that they could share their proposal photos that same night!!

Look at all those amazing signs Becky's sister made for her!!! Along with the signs she brought along a whole suitcase of outfits Becky might've wanted to change into as well as a mirror and an "emergency" touchup kit if her makeup got ruined. Best sister award!!

What Derek & Becky had to say about their experience of working with me:
"Tamara was an amazing photographer that captured our proposal perfectly! Her attention to detail throughout the whole process and timeliness on the same day edits were top notch. She even went above and beyond and picked up flowers and champagne for us, and included pictures with our family throughout the engagement shoot after the proposal. Having not been to Boston before and planning a proposal at the Harbor Walk, she was a huge part on why everything went so smoothly. I recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer!" - Derek
"Tamara was amazing! She was so kind and captured the most beautiful pictures. She is also extremely fast with her work. I got the pictures the same hours later. I couldn’t be more happy and I recommend to anyone looking for a photographer." - Becky
