Can you even believe we got a perfect timing for the above photo with NO TRAFFIC?!? This photo truly is not altered in any way - I didn't remove any cars. I can't believe our luck! I'm obsessed with this cute crosswalk photo. Jocelyn and Eric live in Boston's Seaport District and love hanging with friends and walking around the city so when it came time to schedule their engagement photos, it was a no brainer for where they wanted them!! I absolutely love shooting in Boston because of the vibe and the opportunity to incorporate architecture. In Seaport specifically I love how sunset illuminates the colors in the buildings to make the scene pop!

For their engagement session we started out at the Seaport bridge - both walking along the sidewalk and in the crosswalk. After an outfit change (they could just run back to their apartment to change... so convenient!) we headed across the bridge to the Harborwalk and Fan Pier Park. The lighting was absolutely PERFECT so after getting some shots with the Boston skyline and Rowes Wharf in the background we headed to the end of the pier to get photos of them with the water and the sky that was turning into gorgeous cotton candy colors as the sun set.

Towards the end of their session it began to rain so we headed to the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art) since they have an overhang by the water. We sat on the steps for some photos and so glad we did because the last photo in this blog is one of my favorites from their entire session! Did you know you can also get married at the ICA Boston? What a dreamy, luxury wedding venue to say your vows!

Jocelyn & Eric turned their engagement session into a date night and went out to dinner after their photos. I picked their brain for a few of their favorite spots so if you're looking for good food or drinks in Seaport consider one of these restaurants: Lola 42, Legal Harborside, or Drink (which has speakeasy type vibes!) among sooo many other amazing options.

What time to do engagement photos at Fan Pier Park

As a good rule of thumb, engagement photos should be closer to sunrise or sunset for dreamier light (I have a whole blog on when to do engagement photos here). For Fan Pier Park specifically, the sun sets behind Rowes Wharf. So if you want some lingering rays of sun to provide gorgeous backlight to you / your couple before it dips below the skyline, you'll have to make sure you get there at the right time! I recommend checking Sun Seeker or Google Earth Pro to see where exactly the sun will be. For Jocelyn & Eric it was a cloudy day so we didn't have the opportunity to get that light but normally it would be about one hour before the actual sun set time. If you're a fan of direct light in photos (so that the couple and the skyline is lit from the front) then you'd want to do your session at Fan Pier Park at sunrise!
